The louisiana purchase was purchased in 1803 the treaty was signed on May 2nd. The U.S purchased the area from the French. It was one of the largest land deals in American History. It was a $15 million dollar purchase that covered over 800,000 square miles of land. -

The Lewis and Clark expidition begins, they are out to find and organize a route from the Mississppi River to the Pacific Ocean . -

They completed the expidition after two years of expiriencing encounters with Indians and long advetures. -
Congress prohibits importing of African Slaves
The United States congress abolishes slave trade in america this was a huge deal becuase for so long has the debate of colored rights and white rights has been argued. This ended the slave treade but Colored had yet to recieve rights. -

This was very important becuase for so long was the Europe and the British all in Americas buisnes and this basically told them they cant be politicaly involved with anything in the Americas. -
*jackson introduces the spoils system.
This was where after a political party won an election, they would give governmental jobs to all their voters sort of rewarding them for voting for that party. this was very important becuase it is what put so many people in and out of jobs. -

This was a conflict between Mexico and Texan settelers that were settleing at the time in mexico. This wasnt okay with the mexico and the texans wanted to have their own independent country. This war ended and the result was the republic of Texas. -
Trail of tears!
The relocation and movement of native americans from their homelands to present day oklahoma. This was called the trail of tears not becuase the indians cried becuase they had to move, but becuase they wouldnt just leave teir dead on the trip, so the native americans carried the dead and when the "white man" and women would watch the journey they would cry becuase they would see them carring their dead. -

When james wilson marshal discovered the gold in californa news soon spread over 300,000 men women and children moved west to californa for the goldrush in their hopes to find gold. THis was huge for the economy of the united states. -
*mexican cession
This is when mexico ceded to the u.s giving the united states of america all land east of the rio grande. -
*lincoln assassinated
BAM!!! honest Abe president of the united states is shot down by Boothe at a play. This is huge the president that did great things for african american rights is shot and killed.
