The second two-week session of WHYY’s second annual Young Journalists Summer Camp launches. High school students learned journalism, television and radio production, Internet video, blogging and writing under the guidance of Hamilton Commons instructors and WHYY producers and reporters. -

The WHYY Connections Festival kicks off Sept. 2 with a screening of Ken Burns' "Prohibition" at the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia. Dr. Dog headlined an all-day concert the following day, attended by more than 10,000 residents from Greater Philadelphia and beyond. -
Fifth Season of "On Canvas" Begins, Launches New WHYY-TV Season
WHYY-TV’s arts and culture program "On Canvas" returns with a strong fall lineup featuring performances and interviews with talented and inspiring artists such as Randy Newman. The Oct. 6 episode kicks of WHYY-TV's new local season, featuring new episodes of "Friday Arts" and "On Stage at Curtis" along with the continuation of episodes of "First." -
WHYY-FM Launches Y Stream
WHYY offers its FM listeners a pledge-free online stream beginning with its October membership campaign. The stream is designed to enable supporters to enjoy an alternate live feed of WHYY-FM programming that omits all fundraising breaks. WHYY is only the second public radio station in the country to test this kind of donation choice. -
WHYY Hosts Youth Media Awards Presentation
WHYY hosts a Youth Media Awards presentation to honor the best works produced by young filmmakers in the Delaware Valley. More than 150 film entries in three categories were received from students in grades six to 12. The first of its kind sponsored by WHYY, the contest was open to the public. The works of 17 finalists were screened in WHYY’s Dorrance H. Hamilton Public Media Commons. -
