    Ancient Egypt and health records

    The Egyptians were the first to keep written and accurate health records. Still used magic and beliefs over medicine. This also showed us the first beginnings in which we built off as a world in medicine and health.

    Ancient Chinese

    While they did not attribute lots they did record a pharmacopoeia which is an official drug directory of medications based on use of herbs. This gave us ideas of the first roots in medicine and how to make said drugs.

    Ancient Greeks

    The ancient Greeks began modern medical science by observing the human body on a deeper level. A biochemist named Alcmaeon indentified brains as the physiological site of senses. Hippocrates also was around in this time being names the father of medicine. He created an oath and records.

    The Romans were the first to organize medical care by providing care for soldiers. Also began public health and sanitation systems by creating aqueducts to carry clean water and built sewers.

    While random discoveries of the body, they do have their significance for other doctors and youth.Knowing how parts of the female reproductive system are fully good to learn and find ways to protect those areas from infection.

    To me this is huge. Before Lister came to the scene it was rare that physicians washed their hands. That was until Lister came on and introduced carbolic acid. Which saved many during surgical procedures from internal pathogens.

    This treatment stimulates the immune system to fight off a disease.This really began in 1890's with the experimental work of William B. Coley. This has since been mainly used to help with cancer. The significant improvements have saved many.
