Gettysburg Address
Lincoln dedicated the cemetery at Gettysburg and laid forth a vision of the future. He said, " A government that was "of the people, by the people, and for the people." -
Surrender at Appomattox
Robert E. Lee was facing troops and supply shortages and he ended up surrendering to Ulysses S. Grant at the Appomattox Court House in Virginia. The over the next few weeks the remaining Confederate armies surrendered as well. -
The assassination of Abraham Lincoln
The assassination took place at Ford's Theatre in Washington D.C. The person who assassinated him was John Wilkes Booth who was a well-known stage actor.
