Osborne 1 Released
Osborne 1 was the first mass-produced portable computer that was commercially successful. Osborne 1 was developed by Adam Osborne. Weighing in just over 24 pounds, Osborne 1 had a 5 inch display, 64 KB memory, two floppy drives and a CP/M 2.2 operating system. -
IBM PC Released
IBM released their first personal computer, the IBM PC and was code named as Acorn. It was loaded with a 8088 processor, 16KB of memory (expandable to 256), and had the MS-DOS operating system. -
Commodore SX-64 Released
Commodore SX-64 was the first full-color portable computer. It weighed in at about 23 pounds with a 1541 floppy drive, 64KB of memory and a 5 inch composite color monitor. -

Deskpro 386 Released
Deskpro 386 was released by Compaq. Thus taking the lead position from IBM. The Compaq Deskpro 386 is a 32-bit portable computer with factory installation usually included a 5.25-inch floppy drive, and a hard drive of 40, 70, or 130 MB. -
Macintosh Portable Released
Macintosh Portable is a battery powered portable personal computer made by Apple Inc. Apple's Macintosh Portable was the first consumer laptop with an active 9.5" matrix black and white LCD screen hinged over the keyboard when the system is closed and off. Weighing in at about 16 pounds, sporting a memory of 1 MB SRAM (expandable to 9 MB) and a 40 MB hard drive.
