In 1948, Harry S. Truman granted the military integration in which black and white soldiers could participate in the war together and not on separate battlefields granting equality in the military. -
Freedom Rides
James Farmer organized a ride on buses where the passengers were integrated and rode in Southern segregated territory. They were beaten and arrested in North Carolina and South Carolina -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
This act prohibit discrimination based on race, sex, color, or origin. This was within the communities, workplaces, and any laws that adhered to segregation. -
Ellis Island
Immigrants landed on this island in New York Harbor between New Jersey and New York from Eastern and Southern Europe. -
Woodstock
A major music festival ended in chaos where people were stranded, injured, and some even passed from dehydration. This was an effort to promote peace and unity with everyone after the Vietnam War.
