The Panama Canal opened on August 8, 1914. It was constructed from 1903 to 1914. The project was overseen by the United States (President Roosevelt) after French attempts failed. -

The Treaty of Versailles was the main treaty that ended WWI. The treaty officially ended war between Germany and the Allied powers, and punished Germany for their responsibilities. -
League of Nations Formed
Headquartered in Switzerland, the League of Nations was the first international organization to govern the world powers. The League formed after WWI. The Soviet Union was prohibited from joining, and the United States refused. -
Nineteenth Amendment
The 19th Amendment gave women a constitutional right to vote in American elections. This was a triumph for women's suffrage advocates nationwide.
