Abraham Lincoln was against slavery and was elected president. When Abraham Lincoln was elected president the South Carolina legislature received a threat. The session of Soth Carolina was followed by 11 more states, which were Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina. -

Montgomery, Alabama, the seven seceding states have made an agreement to create a Confederate Constitution, similar to the United States Constitution but with more pressure for the self governing of each state. Jefferson Davis was president til the votes could be held. -

President Buchanan has declined to capitulate southern federal forts to the seceding states, the southern troops overrun them. The troops attacked a supply ship trying to arrive federal forced based in the fort. Finally, the ship return to New York. -

Lincoln Had no plans to end slavery, in the states that already existed. -
April 1861
The civil war began with shots fired on the fort on April 12th after Anderson's offer to surrender was rejected. -
June 1861
Almost defeating them; last-minute reinforcements saved the Union from a serious defeat. -

Suddenly when they were aware of the threat, the army needs an organization and training. Abraham Lincoln's action was to replace McDowell with General George B. McClellan.
