US vs Mexico War
After The United States annexed Texas into the US Mexico Cut ties and a war over where the territory of Texas ended started. The US won battle after battle and eventually won the war resulting in the Texas boarder being the Rio Grande and adding 500,000 miles of land to the US. -
Uncle Toms Cabin is Published
An Anti slavery book is published and rapidly grows popularity and was a key factor in the beginning of the civil war. -
Civil War Begins
South leaves the North and the south attacks fort Sumter. War over States rights, slavery, and proper representation. -
The Emancipation Proclamation
President Abraham Lincolns famous proclamation against slavery after the battle of Gettysburg. The proclamation declared "that all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states "are, and henceforward shall be free." -
Civil War ends
The civil war ends with General Lee's surrender at the Appotamaxx house. Confederate troops throw down arms and fighting begins to stop. Abe Lincoln assassinated soon afterwards.
