French Indian War
Washington's surprise attack on a small French force officially started the French Indian War in America. The war would eventually come to an end in 1763 with Britain gaining all the land from the east coast to the Mississippi river. -
Stamp Act Enacted
The stamp act was an attempt on the English's part to repay war debt. The stamp act taxed all paper goods within the colony. The act deeply angered colonists who, instead, smuggled paper goods. -
Quartering Act Enacted
Parliament passed the Quartering Act in order to save money after the French Indian war. The quartering act stated that the British Military could live in ones house and the homeowner would have to take care of the personnel. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act was a Maneuver by parliament to increase trade between Britain and the Colonies. The Tea Act led colonists to rebel in the form of the Boston Tea Party. -
The American Revolution
On April 19, a british planned to take care of the Patriots. However, the Patriots had already heard of their plan and took defence. Both groups came to a stalemate and eventually one fired on the other. This "shot heard around the world" started the American revolution. -
Battle at bunker Hill
The Americans put up a great fight at Bunker Hill and created a humiliating loss for Britain. The battle also showed that the Americans could put up a fight against the British. -
The Decretory Act
Parliament Passed a law that said that Parliament could pass any law about the colonies that they wanted. -

On July 2 1776 congress produced the final draft of the declaration of independence. They worked through the night to make about 200 copies of the document, and they finished work on July 4th -
George Washington becomes President
George Washington takes oath at the federal hall and becomes the first president of the united states. -
Cotton Gin Pattented
The Cotton Gin was invented by Eli Whitney. This machine separated cotton from cotton seeds which made cotton a huge cash crop in the south and increased slavery.
