    1700 The great Northern war between Russia and Sweden

    The great Northern war was fought between Russia and Sweden and the swedish thought that they could just have a short war that wouldn't last very long. The Russian's ended up winning the war in 1721. At the end of the war Sweden lost its position as the strongest in the Baltic region and it was given to Russia.

    1701 The war of Spanish Succession

    The war was fought because when the king died someone needed to take over his vast lands. So those in line for succession tried to take it, and almost all of Europe got involved in it. Phillip V became the king of Spain, but lost his succession to France, so there was no great French and Spanish alliance made.

    In 1740 Fredrick the second invaded Austria since it was one of the richest provinces also. His army defeated the Austrian army and overran Silesia. By doing this he won the war of Austrian Succession.
