13th Amendment
The 13th Amendment basically outlawed slavery but it didn't eliminate segregation and racism. Although many still were like slaves but just now with pay it wasn't equal not even close, but it was a good step in the right direction. -
14th Amendment
The 14th Amendment makes any person that was born in the United States you are automatically a citizen of the US and the state. -
15th Amendment
The 15th Amendment gives the right to any citizens of the US to vote no matter race, color, or any other difference. -
Plessy vs Feguson
Plessy v. Ferguson was a Supreme Court case that constitutionality allowed racial segregation. This brought the new term "Separate but equal". -
Mendez v. Westminster
This court case was the start of something bigger, the Mendez family won the case and make it possible so that Mexican and white kids can integrate in schools. This was a start to something bigger, in the coming years more court cases would come to be in these similar reasons. -

Sputnik 1 Launched Into Orbit
The Sputnik 1 was a satelite that the Soviet Union launched & it was the first thing in space tha rtwas launched from Earth. Most countries believed that the Soviet Union would dominate everyone but that didnt happen & this also created a race between countries to be the first to get people in space. -

The Berlin wall separated East Berlin & West Berliln, this wall was mostly to keep people within the wall and not be able to escape. There were many traps between the wall and East Berlin. -

Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban Missile Crisis took place in Oct. 16 through the 28th of 1962. This took place when the Soviet Union put missiles in Cuba and were threatening the US to leave Cuba alone. Nobody knew if this could have been the start of World War 3. -
I Have a Dream
The I have a Dream speech was given by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. This was an amazing speech that inspired all to help in the Civil Rights movement. -
John F. Kennedy Assassination
In 1963 on his third year as President, John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas Texas. This through the entire country into a shock after hearing this news. -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed any discrimination based on sex, religion, color, or race. This was the biggest step in the right direction for Civil Rights. -
Voting Act of 1965
The Voting Act of 1965 was signed by President Johnson, with this piece of legislation it allowed black people to vote freely like white Americans. This brought great division between the country but especially in the South. -
Malcolm X Assassasinated
Malcolm X was a Civil Rights leader for blacks and Islamic people he made the Islamic religion in the United States burst into a big community from very little when he started. -
Martin Luther King Jr. Assassination
In Memphis, Tennessee Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and killed. This brought a great change in the countr, it made new federal laws for Civil rights & other things like that. -
Apollo 11 Lands on the Moon
In July of 1969, Apollo 11 lands on the moon with people on it for the very first time and lands the first two humans on the moon. The United States won the space race because they were the very first to make man go to the moon.
