On March 4, 1861 Abraham Lincoln was sworn in as President of the United States of America. This was his first act as being the leader of a political party. He was the leader of the Republican party. -
Commander in Chief
On April 12, 1861 Abraham Lincoln declared war against the Southern States that had broken away from the United States of America. They broke away because they still wanted slavery to be allowed. -
Executive Order
Abraham Lincoln makes an Executive Order by taking control of every railroad in the country during the Civil War until further notice. He demanded that all workers for these railroads will be ready to transport troops. -
Chief Diplomat
Abraham Lincoln tried to negotiate and make a pact with the Southern states trying to end the Civil War and end slavery all at once with the Emancipatioin Proclomation. -
Most Important Accomplishment
On January 31, 1865 the Emancipation Proclomation was put into effect after President Lincoln announced it. The proclomation stated that all slaves in United States teritory would be freed. This is the most important thing that Abraham Lincoln ever did because it ended slavery, which at the time was one of the worst problems facing the world.
