    The Magna Carta was the offical charter of rights the english invented to show that noone was above the law. It was a set of rules that everyone in society had to follow, even the king. The magna carta still influences canadian law, since for the most part candian law has derived from british law it still has signifigance to our society today

    The petition of right was a document that showed the king what he could and couldnt do to society (working class). The petition of rights was made by the parliment of England rigth before the time of the english civil war. One rule in the petition of rights was that, taxes could only be given by the parliment not the king.

    In 1642 the great civil war began between the Parliment and King Charles 1. The reason for the war was because King Charles wanted to change the faiths of many scots but the rebelled so he took matters into his own hands, withut consulting the Parliment.

    King Charles 1 was sentanced to death by the parliment on Jan.30 1649 for the act of treason. King Charles 1 tried to control all of England but soon enough the Parliment saw his unlawful ways.

    Oliver Cromwell is chosen by Parliment to become leader of England. Instead of being called King he asked the people of England to call him Lord Protector to avoid being associated with passed rulers.
