The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment had five ideas these were reason, individualism, republicanism, humanism and secularism .The cause of The Enlightenment was that people were becoming more independent and using more initiative. This meant societies were questioning whether or not god was factual or the church was just making him up. For this purpose societies and individuals had to stop having faith in the church. The effect of The Enlightenment was that the church started losing members. -
Relationship between Aboriginals and Europeans
In 1788, British-Aboirginal relations generale began to deterirorate. At frst the aboirgianls avoided the Europeans. But as more free settlers were arriving and more land was being taken up, contact became unavoidable. -
Second Fleet
The first fleet brought 736 convicts. the second fleet was no where near as successful as the first fleet. 258 covicts had already died before they even got to where they were going. However, 759 thankfully survived. This was bad news for the settlers. Times were tough. The second fleet didnt stop the 898 ships from coming to Australia -
Voluntary Migration
In 1901 well over 15 million people had left England in the search for a better life in the New World. Sometimes it was because of the pull factor where another area becomes more attractive for people. This caused a huge increase in population and house and land sales. -
Involuntary Migration
Slavery and transportation of convicts are two examples of INVOLUNTARY MIGRATION to the new world. These individuals had no choice in the matter, being forced against their wills to migrate. Convicts were deported and they were used as slaves in a new country. The effect of this is human displeasure (they didn't enjoy their lives), increased the long term income of men but did not have any effect on women. -
Bounty Scheme
Few free settlers were attracted to the penal colony of New South Wales during the first thirty years of its existence, despite the free passages, land grants and other incentives offered at various times during this period. The effect of this was that too many free settlers were coming over. -
Battle of Fromelles
Fromelles were the first major battle fought by Australian troops. The attack was intended to draw german troops away from the somme offensive. The attack was a complete failure as the Germans realised within a few hours it was merely a feint.
