Weeks 1-3
Students learn the design process through 2 tasks where they are required to solve problems:
1. Harmless Holder - students design a holder for 6 cans using a selection of resources which is animal safe, sturdy and convenient.
2. Convenient Carrier - invent a way for someone using crutches or a wheelchair to carry all of their things. -
Week 4
Studens explore inventors under 18 years of age, their problems and how they developed solutions. -
Week 5
Students brainstorm problms they've experienced/encountered looking at home/school, in the community,at events/activities etc. Students share problems and select one from the class generated list. Students create teams based on the their chosen problem. -
Week 6
Teams brainstorm possible solutions including a pros and cons list for each idea. Teams decide on solution. -
Week 7
Students design their solution. Finalised designs to be present to teacher. -
Week 8
Students build/create their solution. -
Week 9
Students review/evaluate their solution. If necessary, adjust or redesign solution. -
Week 10
Present solution to peers.
