(Byzantine Video)The Byzantine Empire lasted from 395 A.D. to 1453 A.D. Its beginning was the split of the Roman Empire located on Asia Minor. The Byzantines flourished under Justinian rule. The main religion in the Byzantine was the Eastern Orthodox religion. This empire was very wealthy because of its location on the Bosporus. It was a giant center for trade. They also had an advanced legal system with the Justinian Code for guidance. The Byzantines fell to the Turks in 1453 at the Fall of Constantinople. -

This empire began in the Central Asian Steppes and then stretched all the way to the Sea of Japan at the empire's rise under the rule of Chinggis Khan. The Mongols were nomadic and valued the horse. The Mongols had conquered the most amount of territory in the fastest time in history. They were driven by conquest and power. They were originally formed from a mix of Mongol and Turkish tribes. They were powerful and known as destructive savages. -

Aztecs find Tenochtitlan
The Aztec people came about an island on Lake Texcoco in the Valley of Mexico. This island became the capital for the uprising Aztec Empire and was named Tenochtitlan. The Aztecs built their city here because they saw a hawk eatting a snake on a cactus, they saw this as a good sign. They also believed that it was a great place to have an empire. -
Viking Age
In England, these Viking defeated abbey at Lindisfarne on this date. The abbey was a centre of learning. Monks were killed and slaves were taken, along with church treasures. This event really convinced people in Europe that they were vicious and blood thirsty. They were considered 'wolves among sheep.'
