    Jews working in Berlin armaments industry(making of weapons) are sent to Auschwitz. Auschwitz was a concentration camps and extermination camp built and operated by the Third Reich. In Anne's world, the office building containing the Secret Annex gets sold without warning. The new owner and an architect come to check out the building and Mr. Kleiman (one of the protectors), pretends he’s forgotten the key, that leads to the Secret Annex. He didn't question any further.

    In March, the start of deportations of Jews from Greece to Auschwitz, lasting until August, in total 49,900 people.

    If the Germans believed that they were saving Greece from Jewish strangulation, they could have save themselves the trouble, for this reason, it was a fast dying community.
    Also,Jews are odered in ghettos. On febuary 5th, Anne is compared to Margot, her older sister, and she hates it. She does not want to be like Margot at all because she thinks Margot is too passive.

    In New York, American Jews hold a mass rally (public meeting with lots of people) at Madison Square Garden to try to convince the U.S. government to help the Jews of Europe. On March 10th, in the “Secret Annexe”, everybody is frightened by the war planes and machine guns at night and Anne often crawls into her dad’s room for comfort.

    Liquidation of the Krakow ghetto
    From March 13th-16th, SS (abreviation for "Schutzstaffel", defense in German)and police authorities to poor liquide in the Krakow ghetto. The Krakow Ghetto was one of five major, metropolitan Jewish ghettos created by Nazi. It was used for the exploitation,terror,and persecution of Jews. In another hand in Anne's diary, everybody is sick of eating beans, which is all they’ve been eating. Also,Mr. Frank decides he will never go to a barber again because Anne has gotten so good at cutting hair.
  • Treblinka

    Treblinka
    On March 17th, the police and military rounded up all the Jews in Macedonia, Thrace, and Pirot. By the end of March 1943, virtually all of them died in the Treblinka (concentration camp in Polland). On March 18, Anne is only talking about Turkey, the country, is in war. That is great excitement and she's wainting in suspense for the news.
