    Germany invaded Poland, setting off war in Europe. The Soviet Union also invaded Poland and the Baltic nations. The Blitzkreig, also known as the lightning war, traces to the devlopment of Germany from 1918 to 1939. This effected many countries in both positive and negative ways.

    Germany invaded France and captured France. Winston Churchill said that the French Army should hang on and the United States army would help soon.

    Germany invaded London and the Battle of Britain began. When France signed an armistice with Germany. Britain was all alone and had to fight without anyones help and so they had to fight very hard.

    The Lend Lease was vital to the defense of the United States. The United States gave Britain war supplies and old naval warships in return for military bases in Bermuda and the Carribbean, this was known as the Lend Lease act.

    American and other Allied troops landed in Normandy, France, on D-Day to begin the liberation of Western Europe. D-Day was on June 6, 1944 and it was codenamed Operation Neptune. This gave the American and other Allied troops an advantage in the war.

    The Battle of the Bulge was a major German offensve campaign launched through Ardennes region in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg on the Western Front. This was toward the end of World War II in Europe.

    The Battle of Iwo Jima was a major battle in which U.S. Marines landed on and captured the island of from the Japenese Imperial Army, this was a major part of World War II.
  • Jaoan surrenders after U.S. drops bombs

    Jaoan surrenders after U.S. drops bombs
    The United States dropped two atomic bombs on Japan (Hiroshma and Nagasaki) in 1945. The Japanese became weak because they weren't expecting the atomic bomb. This forced Japan to surrender and ending World War II.
