In this amount of time there began a race for arms. The lots of countries in Europe began to expand armies and navies. One of the main reasons militarism is an important factor of the war is becasue when on country expands the rest will follow. -
Imperialism
Closly related to mnilitarism imperialism is the brlief of expanding your reign. America did this throughout our history with going further west. -
Allies
In this year countries rushed to form allies and there were two sides the Triple Power and Britain, France, and Russia. America would be considered with Britain but not until later involvment. -

Archduke Franz Ferdinand, nephew of Emperor Franz Josef and heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, is shot to death along with his wife by a Serbian nationalist in Sarajevo, Bosnia. This is one of the bigest kicks into allout war. -

The Germans decided it would be a good Idea to send a telegram to Mexico stted if you join us and attack the US we will give you some of its land. The british intercepted it and this eventually ended up pushing us to war. -

Early in the war the unresricted submarine warfare started. Germany used this tactic lots and lots of time and it was greatly affective, but a lot of it was against civilian boats so they haulted the use. Later they decided it would bring victory soon so they started it again. -

With the hole present in our defense thanks to Russia's leaving the US troops helped greatly and made fighting easier on the rest with fresher soldiers. Also the american people did awesome by planting extra food and making supplies that were needed. -

The treaty of Versailles was signed limiting the rights of certain nations involved in the war.Germany was punished hevally and also finned millions. This would cause them to eventuallt go broke and begin the depression. They protested and were humiliated by the terms. -

Dawes Plan was partly the restructuring of Weimar’s national bank. While this may have been thought as direct control by the outside.The Weimar government accepted the terms of the Dawes Plan in September 1924 -
