    France loses Alsace to Germany
    France was able to obtain Alsace-Lorraine due to the Treaty of Westphalia as a result of the Thirty Years War. Later, Alsace-Lorraine then became German territory because of its ancient German associations, and because France lacked valuable resources and industries that Germany had.

    The Russo-Japanese war, began with Czar NIcholas II when he wanted to expand the Russian empire. He then went to war assuming the japanese were somewhat "weak" and when he went to war to gain their land, the japanese military had defeated Czar Nicholas II and Russia.

    After being defeated in the Franco-Prussian war Russia seemed to have weakened compared to the European countries, so Russia agreed to support France when they were declared war on by Germany. France then was able to get Russia to mobilize incase of immediate attack by the Germans.

    Name of the plan came from Alfred Von Schlieffen from the Imperial German General staff. The plan was created for the front war against the French third republic. After that war german historians explained how that plan was a "plan to victory". This plan was the plan that was to be used for the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, but failed.

    Belgium wanted to get through the country but Germany refused and invaded Luxemburg. Days later, Belgium government denies the requests of the British govesrntment and guaranteed military support for Belgium. German government then declares war on Belgium and they cross over to attack the vity of Liege.
