    Roland H. Neel’s job was to shoot the balloons down. The balloons had men in it. The men were spies trying to look over to the enemy's territory. Roland and his team were trying to find a way to stop it.

    Roland and his colleague would go up 5,000 meters feet to see what the enemies were doing. The enemy was 500 meters in the air so they wouldn’t pay attention to who was above them. They would get down to their level and shoot. This was their strategy.

    A bullet was shot and it locked the rudder of the plane. This made them fly straight. The bullet also cut through the elevator wire which made them low to the ground. Their last choice was to crash into the trees.

    Neel and his crew were the 25 aerial observers. The German aviators had parachutes but Neel didn’t. The Germans had parachutes but didn’t use their balloons. The balloons could be useful for Neel.

    There was a new Army Corp being organized and Neel was chosen to be the operations officer. He was highly complimented which made it easier to get the position. He also had enemy experiences. This made it easy for him to get his spot.

    Sophie who was Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s wife declared war on Serbia. Six days after the war European countries were declaring war on eachother. Twenty-one countries declared war which led to World War I. This was in a span of four years.

    German army launched its assault on the city of Liege in Belgium. This violates the latter country’s neutrality. The Germans had their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Armies aligning themselves to move into Belgium.

    During the opening month of WWI, the German troops decided to burn down the Belgian Village of Louvain. They were stationed in the Belgian Village of Louvain and looted and burned the town. This executed hundreds of civilians.
  • Allies

    London had a treaty that was secretly signed by Italy, Great Britain, France, and Russia. This included territorial promises to Italy that would reveal serious inter-allied differences at the peace conference. This treaty was to not get leaked.
  • BOOM!

    52 Zeppelin raids on England that killed 556 people and injured 1,357. A single airship inflicted serious damage on the very center of the City of London. The airships were used because they were vulnerable to the vagaries of the wind and British fighter aircraft. London was a primary target and Gothas carried out their incendiary bombing raid over London using a total of 83 bombs.
