Germany proposed a military alliance with Mexico, but only if the US joined the war. This upset the Americans and made them want to join the war even more -
Espionage and Sedition Act
This Act violated the first amendment because it banned newspapers and magazines. The Sedition Act made it possible to say what you wanted as long as it wasn't bad. Targeted the senate because they viewed the bill as a political compromise

Women Sufferage, and their roles in the war
The 19th amendment was passed, allowing women to vote. Also, when the men left to fight in the war, the women took the jobs the men left behind.
