    Japanese Invade ChinaIn 1937 the Sino Japanese war happened. This great conflict happened when China decided that they didn't want Japan to expand in their territory.This ended by the defeat of Japan by the allies in 1945

  • Germany's Invasion of Poland

    Invasion of PolandGermnay who was led by Adolf Hitler was the country that invaded and neturalized the country. He did this because if he wanted overall conquest of Euorpe he needed Poland to be neutral. Before Germany invaded they signed a non aggression pact with the Soviet Union. There were objections from both Britain and France about the invasion but the Germans continued on. The Polish defenders finally surrendered on October 6th,

  • Germany Blitzkrieg

    <a href='http://http://www.history.com/topics/world-war-ii/blitzkrieg Blitzkrieg was a type of tactic used by the Germans in WW2.It was known as a new technolagy of that time.They described it as German tanks and aircraft being everywhere. This form as lighening warfare. They tried it out in Poland before they sucessfully used it in Belgium,Netherlands, and France.

Churchill tried to get France to not sue to peace and said that America would come to their aid and join the war but they froze their accets and didnt. 2 million french people fled before the Germans came.

    Battle of BritainThis happened because Winston Churchill wanted to out maneuver any politician that wanted to agree with Adolf Hitler. Britain had a good an effective air defense team. Germany had many problems going on.They had no navy left. For some time Germany seemed to be in the lead but some bad intelligence and bad attacks led to Hitler suspending the Battle of Britain.

    Operation BarbarossaThis was an invasion of the Soviet Union by Hitler and the German Army.The invasion covered an area of two thousands miles. The German combat was at its highest point at this time. Was known as the finest army fighting in the 20th century. Barbosa was a turning point in World War 2.The invasion failed and now Germany was fighting a two front war that they could not win.

  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl HarborThis was an attack by the Japanese on the Americans at one of their best naval bases. This happened because Japanese believed if they could control
    America it would change the outcome of the war.2,000 american soldiers and sailors were killed and 1000 were injured. After the attack the United States declared war on Japan and America was now involved in World War 2.

  • Wannasee Confrence

    ConfrenceThis was a confrece set by the Nazi's to discuss the Jew problem. The agenda was to make a plan to come up with a solution for the Jewish question. Things such as mass sterilization were discussed. Finally it was proposed to send the Jews to concentration camps and basically work them to death. The conditions would be so drastic that no one would survive.

  • Bataan Death March

    death marchThe day after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor they began invading the Phillipines. The americans helped fight with the Filipinos and after three months they had to surrender 75,000 troops. They had to then march 65 miles to Mariveles.Thousands of troops died on the way. The ones that survived were then were taken to prisoner of war camps.

  • Battle of Midway

    MidwayThe battle of Midway happened 6 months after the attack on Pearl Harbor and this was one of the most effective Naval Battle in World War 2. This was an important win for the U.S. It allowed allies to move into the offensive position. Japans plan was to sink any remaining air craft carries that made it out of Pearl Harbor. The Americans decoded Japans fleet codes to understand exactly what Japan was going to do.

  • Operation Gomorrah

    GOmorrahThis operation began by Britain raiding Germany at night and America attacking during the day. This occurred because of all the casualties Britain suffered from Germany bombing Britatin. The British bombs were just as destructive as the German bombs were over a course of five days. To make matters worse America also came and bombed over Hamburg as well.This killed around 30,000 people and destroyed 280,000 buildings.Also had a significant affect on Hitler

  • D-Day Normandy Invasion

    D-DayAmerica,British,and Canadian forces lined the 50 mile stretch of beach on France's coast.This invasion required a huge amount of planning.This all happened to liberate Western Europe from the Nazi control. Deception camps were made to distract the Germans so they wouldn't know it was coming and by August 1944 All of Northern France had been liberated.The landing in Normandy was known to be the begginning of the End of the war in Europe.

    Battle of BulgeThis was when German launched its deadliest battle of the war. Germany wanted to divide the allied forces by this battle. This war happedned in the Ardennes mountains. A cruical shortage of fuel and the courageous American soldiers led to a U.S victory. The battle of Bulge was the costliest action fought by the U.S.

  • LIberation of Concentration Camps

    campsConcentration camps were where the Jews were sent to suffer. The Soviets liberated Auschwitz the largest camp in Jan. 1945. It kept going from their on liberating more and more camps in the Baltic states and Poland.The conditions were awful where piles of corpses layed. Until these camps were liberated they didn't know the degree of how bad the the Nazi's were

  • Operation Thunderclap

    ThunderclapOperationThunderclap was prooposed to bomb easteran cities of Germany. Also to show the German people that Germany's air defense was dwindling. They wanted to attack Dresden because it was the head of German quarters. Dresden was also one of the least bombed cities in Germany. Ine the end Dresden was pretty much destroyed

  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Iwo JimaAmericans made their first strike at the Japanese homelands at Iwo Jima.After the great strike against Pearl Harbor this was the first attack for America. Iwo Jima was defended by about 23,000 Japanese. After a month of fighting the Marines wiped out the defending forces.Very big stepping stone for America winning that battle.

  • Battle of Okinawa

    OkinawaThis battle was known as the biggest and last Pacific islands battle of world war 2. The allies drew up the biggest assault so far for the United States. Casualties mounted for both sides but Americans wer much healthier than the Japanese. The Japanese technically surrendered meaning a big win on the allies side. This win was needed for the final conquest of Japan.

  • VE Day

    VE DayThis day is all known as Victory in Europe day. This was the defeat of the Nazi war machine. German troops throughout Europe were finally done and surrendered.Many of the Gernan soldiers concerns were not getting taken prisoner.

  • Dropping of the atomic bombs

    Bombs droppedThis was the first use of atomic weaponary during wartime. The United States had been working on this weapon since 1940 but by the time they were able to test it Germany had already been defeated. The war with Japan was not over though.They believed any more attacks would cause to many American casualties so they decided to drop the atomic bombs. once on Hiroshima and then three days later on Nagasaki.A few days folliwing Japan announced their surrender. 120000 people plus more weeks later.

  • VJ Day

    VJ DayAlso known as VIctory over Japan day. August 14 was the day Japan finally surrendered ending World War 2. Rhode Island is the only state that actually celebrates VJ Day the second Monday of August
