    the japanese invade into Manchuria. Sino-Japanese war. Japan wanted into the divided country of China for there vast variety of natural resources. The Japanese were a lot stronger and saw China's weakness. Japanese air force bombed the chinese.

    Blitzkreig is another word for lighting war. This lighting war focused on the big weapons, such as tanks, planes and guns. While the tanks and soldiers were on land, they were blowing things uo causing shock and could roam without being touched. The planes were dropping bombs and stopping them from deploying forces and resupplying.

    Japans attack on Pearl harbor was a very tradric event. The bombing happened on the island of Oahu, Hawai'i. More then 2,000 soldiers and sailers were killed and another 1000 were wounded. They destroyed 20 Naval vessals, 8 battleships and almost 200 airplanes. This conflict led to the U.S. to join War. Germany and Italy then declared war on the U.S. also.

    The house in the Berlin Suburb of Wannsee. It was held to discuss and coordinate the final soution to the Jewish question. The final solution was the code name for the annihilation of the European Jews. This was Hitler scheme for killed as many jew as fast as he could in a mass murder. During the announcement of the final solution Jews were told they were going to be deployed for labor in the East.

Japan also hoped that defeating them it would push them into negations and make them end the Pacific war.

    The battle of starlingrad was a succesfull soviet defense of the city of starlingrad in the U.S.S.R. during the second worls war. It was one of the bloodiest battles in history, with combined military and civilian casualties of nearly 2 million. Most historians consider it to be the greatest battle of the entire conflict.It stopped the German advance into the Soviet Union and marked the turning of the tide of war in favor of the Allies.

    The warsaw ghetto uprising lasted from april 19, untill may 16. This event was a revolt by the jews against their nazi oppressors. Residents of the Jewish ghetto in Nazi-occupied Warsaw, Poland, staged an armed revolt against deportations to extermination camps. This opposed Nazi Germany's final effort to transport the remaining Ghetto populationto extermination camps.The poorly supplied resistance was defeated by the German soldiers. This ended their operation to liquidate the Ghetto on 16 May.

    The British flew out 791 planes and dropped about 2,300 tons of incendiary bombs on Hamburg in a very little time. Out of those 791 only 12 were lost. The attacks continued till November of that year. When it ended, 17,000 bombers dropped 9,000 tons of explosives, doing this it destroyed 280,000 buildings, and killing more than 30,000 people.

    The battle of normandy which lasted from june to august 1944, resulted in alliedliberation of western europe from nazi control. D-day began on june 6, 1944 code named operation overload. 156,000 american, british and canadian forces landed on a 50 mile stretch of the heavinly fortified coast of france's noormandy region. By late 1944, all of northern france was liberated, and when spring came around the allies had defeated the germans. This has been called the beginning of the end of the war.

    The battle of the bulge, or the Ardennes Offensive, was the largest battle fought on the Western Front in Europe during World War II. It was a German offensive intended to drive a wedge between the American and British armies in France and the Low Countries and recapture the port of Antwerp in The Netherlands to deny the Allies use of the port facilities. This created a bulge in the American lines 50 miles wide and 70 miles deep, but did reach its goals.

    The liberation of somethings means to free someone or something from anothers control. Even know almost all the jews from poland were killed. This time, freed all of the people in these camps. The soviets freed all the jews at Belzec, Sobibor, and Treblinka killing center. Also the biggest killing center and concentration camp Aushwitz was Liberated in this time.

    Barr Honors Kentuckian on 70th Anniversary of Iwo Jima The battle of iwo jima was an invasion of the small but usefull island of iwojima. America tried to capture the island from japan because of its two airfields. Following preparatory air and naval bombardment, three U.S. marine divisions landed on the island in February 1945. Iwo Jima was defended by roughly 23,000 Japanese army and navy troops. After a long month the U.S. won the battle.

    The battle of okinawa, or operation iceberg took place on the island of Okinawa in the Ryukyu Islands. It was the largest amphibious landing in the Pacific theater of World War II. It also resulted in the largest casualties with over 100,000 Japanese casualties and 50,000 casualties for the Allies.This proved to be almost the last serious defense of Japanese territory before the end of the war in August.

On the 7th of May, General Jodl signed the unconditional surrender of German forces. And on may 8th 1945 its was officially annonced to be the end of the second world war in europe. This day was named victory in europe day and the Allies celebrated the defeat of Nazi Germany and the end of Adolf Hitler's Reich.

    vj day, or victory over japan day, took place on both ugust 14th and 15th. It was announced that Japan had surrendered unconditionally to the Allies, effectively ending World War II. Japans formal surrender to place in the tokyo bay aboard the U.S.S. missouri. This wasnt untill nine days after the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, and six days after a second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki.

    Operation thunder clap was the code name for a cancelled plan to attack berlin. The plan involved a massive attack on Berlin in the belief that it would cause 220,000 casualties with 110,000 killed, many of them key German personnel. The plan got cancelled due to its likley hood to not work. They reconsidered the plan in 1945, to be implemented in coordination with a Soviet advance, but it was again was rejected as impractical, instead a number of smaller attacks were choosen.

    The United States became the first and only nation to use an atomic weapon during war. An American B-29 bomber dropped the first bomb atomic bomb ever over the japanese city Hiroshima.It wiped out 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people. Tens of thousands later died of radiation exposure. Three days later, a second B-29 dropped another atomic bomb on Nagasaki, killing an estimated 40,000 people. Hirohito japans emporer announced his country’s surrender on august 15.
