    Germany's Invasion of Poland
    Germany invaded Poland to get World War 2 started. Hitler wanted to neutralize the eastern country so that his overall conquer of Europe could start. This effected the rest of the war in Europe.

    German Blitzkrieg

    The German Blitzkrieg is the term used by the Germans meaning "lightning war." This was first used in the invasion of Poland. It led to surprise attacks from the Germans and left their enemies confused and disorganized.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    This was the nazi code name for the invasion of the Soviet Union. Hitler wanted to take over all of Europe so he wanted to invade them as well. The effect of this was the Soviet Union turned against Germany because they broke their nonaggression pact.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    This was an attack by the Japanese on an american military base in Hawaii. The Japanese wanted to neutralize the American Pacific Fleet so they couldn't plan any attacks on Japan. The U.S wanted to stay neutral in the war but this event led to U.S involvement in Wold War 2.

    Bataan Death March
    This was also called the March of Death. It was a transfer of POWs from the Philippians and the U.S sides. This led to severe physical abuse and sometimes even death from the Japanese Imperial Army.
  • D-Day Invasion of Normandy

    D-Day Invasion of Normandy
    Allied troops crossed the English Channel to try and invade the beaches at Normandy. The invasion of Normandy napped so that troops could meet up with the soviet troops coming in from the east. By invading these beaches the allies had forces coming in from both sides, so they could help liberate France.

    Battle of the Bulge
    This was a German offensive plan to go through the Ardennes Forrest with a surprise blitzkrieg surprise attack. This caught the allied troops off guard because Hitler was trying to split the allied troops. This led to many casualties but the Germans lost most of their armored forces.

    Liberation of Concentration Camps
    Allied forces liberated Auschwitz And other camps in 1945. People started finding out about these brutal camps and they needed to stop Germans from continuing. Nowadays we have Holocaust Museums to remember this tragic event in our worlds history.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    U.S troops landed at Iwo Jima on their island hopping campaign. We needed this island for its strategic location for building a military base. This led to the bloodiest battle in the pacific war.
  • VE Day

    VE Day
    This day marked the formal surrender of the Germans in world war 2. Allies won the war and this day marked the final surrender from the Germans. This is the end of the war.
  • Dropping of the Atomic Bombs

    Dropping of the Atomic Bombs
    The U.S made the first atomic bomb under the code name: Manhattan Project. This happened because the U.S didn't want to invade Japan and lose a lot of people during the invasion. This eventually led to the dropping of the bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

    VJ Day
    This was the final surrender of the Japanese. U.S won the war in the pacific after the dropping of the atomic bombs. This marked the final end of the war in both Europe and Japan.
