    From October 1st to October 10th Germany demanded that the Sudentenland be annexed to Germany because most of the people living there spoke german. Over the course of 10 days, Germany sucessfully annexed the Sudetenland. This was important because it allowed Germany to gain more land without fighting for it.

    Peral Harbor was a suprise attack on the USA in the territory of Hawaii by the Japanese. The whole attack was by air. This attack was devestating to the US because the US was neutral at the time of the attack and had been speaking to Japan about peace. US losses:

  • The Philippines

    8 December 1941 – 8 May 1942
    Approximately 75,000 Filipino and American troops on Bataan were forced to make an arduous 65-mile march to prison camps. The marchers made the trek in intense heat and were subjected to harsh treatment by Japanese guards. Thousands perished in what became known as the Bataan Death March.

    A militeary used by the US against Japan in the Pacific war during WW2. It entailed taking over an island and the moving shortly so that the enemy has a hard time keeping up with you.

    (6 months and 2 days).
    U.S Marines launched a surprise attack in 1942 at an airbase that was under constructions while the Japanese troops were stationed in a section of the Solomon Islands. It was the first major offensive and decisive victory for the Allies in the Pacific Theater.

  • Stalingrad

    (23 August 1942 – 2 February 1943)
    The largest and bloodiest battle in history. Nearly 1.8 - 2 million killed or injured. At first the Germans pushed back the Red Army(Russians) but the Red army flanked and surrounded the German army leading to their demise.     This was the laboratory at the heart of the Manhattan project. This was where some of the most famous scientist in history gathered to create the worlds most powerful weapon.

    Codenamed Operation Neptune was the largest land, air, and sea invasion in history. The allied forces invaded northern France in Normandy. This was the liberation of France from Germany and the foundaton for the Allied victory in WW2.

    The Fall of Berlin, also known as the Battle of Berlin, was one of the last major offensives of the war in Europe. The Nazi army didnt stand a chance. By the end of the battle Hitler had killed himself along with several of his top generals. On May 8th (9th for the Soviets) the war in Europe was over.

    After Japan refused to surrender the US dropped the most powerful weapon know to man kind on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The blast destroyed 90% of the city and killed 80,000 people immediately. Tens of thousands would later die due to radiation exposure.

    The last post war meeting that was held by the "Big Three" featuring American President Harry S. Truman, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill (and his successor, Clement Attlee) and Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin. It was held near Berlin. They talked about the fate of Germany economy and land boundaries and other stuff of the nature.
