Annexation of Sudetenland
Date: 1938, September 29- Oct. 10
On September 29 during the Munich Conference the area was given to Germany. The meeting was held by France and Great Britain. They met with Italy and Germany. They created an ultimatum to give Sudetenland to Germany. They were angry about the Treaty of Saint-Germain. This put them under the Czechoslovak rule.

Pearl Harbor
In Oahu, Hawaii the japanese lead an aerial attack on Pearl Harbor. This caused the US to enter WWII. The Japanese were mad at the US for placing a higher tax on oil. This was the reasoning behind the attack.

The Philippines
Date: December 8 1941
10 hours after Pearl Harbor Japan planned a surprise attack on the Philippines. The troops landed in north and south Manila.

Japanese Internment Camps
Date: February 19 1942 After the bombing of Pearl Harbor the country was racist against the Japanese living in America. FDR issued an executive order that all Japanese in the U.S. be sent to the camps.

Battle of Midway
The battle was 6 months after the Pearl Harbor attack. It was a battle against the U.S. and Japanese. It was an air-sea battle. The U.S. took the victory.

Stalingrad
Date: 1942-1943 July 17-February 2
This battle stopped the advancement of the Germans into the Soviet Union. It was the turning point in the war for the Allies. Taking over the city would cut the Soviet link with Russia.

Guadalcanal
Date: August 1942- February 1943
On July 6, 1942 Japanese troops landed on Guadalcanal and began constructing an airfield. On August 7th the Allies landed on Guadalcanal and seized the airfield. In February 1943 the Japanese were badly outnumbered and forced to surrender.

Island-hopping
Military strategy by the Allies in WWII. They would take over an island and place a military base there. It would then be the launching point for taking over the next island.

D-Day
D-Day was the Allies invasion into western Europe. By the end of August all of France was liberated. U.S., British, and Canadian forces landed on 5 different beaches in Normandy, France.

The Yalta meeting was between the Allies. They met to discuss what they would do after war with Europe defeated. They also discussed the war with Japan.

Fall of Berlin
Stalin released 20 armies, 6,300 tanks, and 8,500 aircrafts to crush German renaissance and capture Berlin. By April 24th the Soviet army had surrounded the city.

Death of Hitler
Hitler was scared of being captured by the Allies. He committied suicide he took an dose of cyanide and shot himself in the head. His body was covered in gasoline and burned. On May 7 1945 Germany surrendered to the Allies.

Los Alamos was one of the major atomic bomb plants. On June 16th 1945 they transported the world's first atomic bomb.

Meeting at Potsdam
Joseph Stalin, Churchill, and Truman met in Potsdam, Germany. This was the meeting to negotiate the terms of ending WWII. Germany surrendered May 8th 1945. The Allied leaders agreed to meet and discuss what was going on in Yalta

Hiroshima
An American B-29 Bomber plane dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. The bomb killed 90% of the city's population. It instantly killed 80,000 people and later thousands more would die from the bombs radiation.
