    Why It Is Important - When the French pulled out of the war, Canada quickly joined in to take their place. Canada quickly stopped the German push and started the German retreat. The Canadians showed that they can stand up against the largest armies in the world.

    Where - Sommes River
    Why it is important - It was a real test of endurance for the Canadians. Miles of land was gained, but many of allies were lost. The Canadians showed that they can endure even the harshest places in the world for extended periods of time.

    How They Fought - Trenches, Conditions were cold and snowy.
    Why it is important - Canadinas fought together for the first time. They gained control of Vimy Ridge and showed new hope for their allies by defeating the heavy german defence. They also learned a new tactic called the creeping barrage which prevented German machine guns from killing them.

    Why it is important - This was important because we were losing many troops on the front lines and we needed people to take their place. The volunteer ratees werent high so the government needed people to fight in the war and keep the war in our favour. When this came into play, more than 400,000 canadians were forced to join the battle and support the troops.
