The westernfront is name given to the hundred of kilometres of trenches that run from the north sea to the swiss frontier. The fighting here lasted for about 2 years and was all trench warfare. In some occasions the trenches were no more than a few metres apart in range for gas bombs and grenades. -
Gallipoli
The Gallipoli Campaign, also known as the Dardanelles Campaign took place on the Gallipoli peninsula.Between 25 April 1915 and 9 January 1916, during World War I. A joint British and French operation was mounted to capture the Ottoman capital of Constantinople (Istanbul) and secure a sea pass to Russia. Still today this is a tourist attraction to go and see anzac cove and do the galliipoli walk. -
Anzac day
Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that broadly commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders "who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations" and "the contribution and suffering of all those who have served. Originally 25 April every year was to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in the Ottoman Empire during World War I.
