    Japanese general, Matsul Iwane, ordered the city of Nanking to be destroyed. Japan wanted to break the sprit of the chinese resistance. Japanese butured 150,000 males, "war prisoners" and massarced 50,000 male cilvilans. Raped 20,000 women/girls of all ages and mpst of which died during the process.

    Germany Invasion of Poland
    1.5 billion German troops invaded Poland. germany claimed it to be an act of defense. 65,000 troops killed, 42,000 captured by Germans and 240,000 by soviets.
  • German Blitzkrieg

    Germany attacked several different countries with this method so a bigger war wouldn't start. Hitler thoughtbif all of his oppenents were already attacked a new war wouldn't start. This help lead to WW2.
  • Pearl Harbor

    The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and killed over 2.300 Americans because the U.S. cut off Japans oil supply. This was one of the major causes of the U.S. joinning WW2.

    More than 160,000 Allied troops landed on a 50-mile long coastline to fight Nazi Germany. The Allied wanted to gain a foot-hold in Europe. Allies lost over 9,000 soldiers either killed or hurt.
  • Battle of Bulge

    Germans launch the last major offensive of war so they could push the Allied frontline west from Northren France. Over 20,000 GI's killed, 20,000 captured, and 40,000 wounded.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    Three U.S. marine divisions landed on the island. This happened because of the desire for a place where B-29 bombers damaged over Japan could land without returning and for a base. 1,083 prisoners, 5,900 people killed, and 17,400 hurt.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    Allied forces invaded the island and engaged Japanese in the bloodiest battle of the pacific war. So they could win air bases vital to the projected invasion of Japan. Japan lost more than 77,000 soldiers and the allies suffered 65,000 casualties which 14,000 died.
  • Liberation of Concentration Camp (Dachar)

    Liberation of Concentration Camp (Dachar)
    U.S.'s seventh army liberated the first concentration camp by Nazi's so they could free the prisoners. A brief battle came afterwards with the camp's remaining gaurds.
  • VE-Day

    Great Britain and the U.S. celebrated victory in Europe because the German troops finally surrendered. 13,000 POW's were sent back to Great Britain and to celebrate the victory people put flags and banners up.

    U.S. dropped a bomb on Hiroshima in Japan. U.S. told Japan to stop fighting but they wouldn't. 80,000 people killed instantly.
