The ANZAC's landed at Anzac Cove on April 25th 1915. The Battle of Gallipoli ended on 19th December 1915, and lasted about 8 months. During this Battle, the ANZAC'S fought against the Turks. The Turks won the Battle of Gallipoli against an allied naval offensive. The Battle of Gallipoli cost 8709 Australians, and 2701 New Zealanders. -

The Battle of the Somme - 5th July 1916 - 18th November 1916
The Battle of Somme, also known as the Somme Offensive, was one of the largest battles during the time of WW1. For five months, the British and French armies fought the Germans in a brutal Battle of attrition on a 15- mile front. Three Australian divisions suffered 23,000 casualties, of which 6,800 men were killed or died of wounds. -

The first Battle of Bullecourt - 9th April 1917 - 11th April 1917
The first Battle of Bullecourt was an Australian attack on German trenches. The 4th Australian division and the 62nd British division attacked the Hindenburg Line near the the village of Bullecourt. After an attack set for April 10 failed, the Australians were forced back to their own lines while tanks stood burning on the battlefield. The first Battle of Bullecourt resulted in 3,000 Australian men killed or wounded. -

The second Battle of Bullecourt - 3rd May 1917 - 17th May 1917
Three weeks after the first Battle of Bullecourt, the Australian 2nd division, along with the British 62nd division attacked over the same ground where the Australians had been defeated on 11th April. The second Battle of Bullecourt only advanced the line a kilometre or so, and resulted in the loss of another 7,000 Australian casualites, along with 11,000 Germans, killed or wounded in battle. -

The first large scale action involving Australian troops in Belgium, which lasted up for a week. The Battle of Messines cost 6,000 Australian casualties, and an estimated 10,000 German casualties died or were wounded. -

The Battle of Beersheba - 31st October 1917
The Battle of Beersheba was part of the wider British offensive collectively known as the third battle of Gaza. The Battle of Beersheba allowed British Empire forces to break the Ottoan line near Gaza on 7th November and advance into Palestine. The Australians suffered 67 casualties. Two officers and 29 other ranks were killed and, 8 officers and 28 other ranks were wounded. -

The first Battle of Villers Bretonneux occurred between 30th March 1918 - 5th April 1918. The first Battle of Villers Bretonneux was part of the German Spring Offensive on the Western Front, and involved Australian troops working alongside the British Empire, against the German Empire. Around 665 Australians died during the first Battle of Villers Bretonneux. -

The second Battle of Villers- Bretonneux - 24th April 1918 - 27th April 1918
The first and second Battles of Villers- Bretonneux were a part of the Kaiser's battle, a series of attacks along the Western Front. Two Australian brigades took part in the counter-attack to stop the Germans spring offensive on the night of April 24 in 1918, along with three British battalions. The Australian troops fought against German troops. Around 2,400 Australians died in the battle.
