  • Japanese invasion of China

    Near Peiping in North China, Chinese and Japanese troops came into conflict. Soon stalement occured and Japanese forces were shifted to the Pacific theatre of World War II and to Southeast Asia against the Western Powers and their allies in 1941. The second Sino-Japanese War was primarly between Republic of China and the Empire of Japan.
    It was a resistance to the expansion in its territory by Japanese influence. An effort to unseat Nationalist government of Chiang Kai-shek.

    Resulted in the Nanking Massacre. Another effect of the war was the Marco Polo Bridge incedent. Many people have died Japanese, asian and citezens all died due to the war.

    The Polish army was defeated in weeks of the invasion. Germany sent thousands of tanks and planes on Poland and broke defences, envancing on WarSsaw leading to Polands surrender. Hitler wanteed to sign a nonaggression pact with Poland.The German-Soviet Pact stated that Poland was to be partitioned and enabled Germany to attack
    The effects of the war caused other countries to rage war on Germany. Britian and France declared war on Germany and the Soviet Union invede Poland on September 3,1939.

    A military tactic designed to create disorganization among enemy forces through use of mobile forces and locally concentrated firepower. Germany bombed Polish airfields and german warships attacked Polish naval forces and Hitler named this a defensive action. To Hitler the conquest of Poland would bring Lebensraum. The succes of the attack lead to more use of this attack.

    German tanks go to Paris where millions have fled and take over. This happened to the ever expanding Nazi army taking over. The result was that of Paris falling to Germany and millions being intangled in the war.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Japanese planes attacked a United States Naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.Japan attacked the United States naval base to criple their naval and for them to not have a strong army at sea to combat Japan. Due to the attack 2,300 Americans estimated were killed, and destored and damaged many ships of the United States.
  • Bataan Death March

    Bataan Death March
    U.S. surrender of Bataan Pennsula and 75,000 Filipino and American tropps on Battan were forced to make a 65 mile march to prison camps. The japanese did this to torture the Americans who oppose them in the war. Thousands died on the trechourous march giving it the name.
  • Battle of Midway

    Japanese attack that failed due to the already prepared Ameicans, who found out about the plans. On the verge of losing the japanese planned to hurt the Americans aircraft carrer to predict their next move and hurt them. The japanese wre caught when most vunerable and defeated.
  • D-Day

    160,000 Allied troops landed to fight Nazi germany on beaches of Normandy, France. Five beaches along 50-mile strtch. Initiated the Wetsern Allied effort to liberate mainland Europe from Nazi. The effect was the beggining of the end for Hitler and and Germans.

    Soviet soilder were the first to begin liberation and entered the Majdanek camp in Poland and later over ran many other concentration camps.This was all to put a stop to the madness that was happeneing. The effects were the continuation of liberation and freedom of the jews.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    U.S. Marines invaded Iwo Jima, after months Japanese defenders of the island were dug into bunkers deep within volcanic rocks. Japanese fighters taking off from Iwo Jima intercepted B-29 from U.S. naval air bases and attacking Mariana airfields causeing the U.S. determined to capture Iwo Jima. 7 thousand U.S. marines were captured, 20 thousand wounded, and they captured 216 Japanese while killing the rest.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    Known as operation Iceburg and largest amphibious landing in the Pacific theater of World War II. A series of defences caused them to defend for weeks, and a series of battles occured. Allies were aproching and choose Okinawa as a base for air operations.77 thousand japanese soilders, Allies suffered 65 thousand casulties and 14 thousand deaths.

    VE Day
    A public holiday to mark the formal acceptence of the Allies of World War II and of the Nazi's surrender of its armed forces. Hitler had commited suicide during Germany's surrender at the battle of Berlin. Due to the surrendeer VE Day marked the end of World War II in Europe.

    An American B-29 bomber dropped the world's first atomic bomb over Japanese city's Hiroshima and Nagasaki three days later. This was don to bring World War II to a speedy end and because the belief of an attack on Jpan would result in many American caasulties. Emperor Hirohito announced Japan's surrenderafter the attack and the bombs killed 120 thousands of people and devistated the citys.
  • VJ Day

    VJ Day
    Victory over Japan day is the day Japan surrendered in World War II ending the war. Japan surreneder due to the atomic bombs being dropped on them. The surrender signaled the end of the war and bringing relief off many countries.
