    An act passed by Congress that provided that the president could ship weapons, food, or equipment to any country whose struggle against the Axis assisted U.S. defense. The law gave president Franklin Roosevelt to aid Great Britain with ships and other war materials against theire war with the Nazi Germany. The United States had not yet joind the war until that December

    This was a surprise military attack by the Imperial Japanese Navy against the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. It lasted for 2 hours but the effect was devastating. The day after presuFDR asked congress to declare war on Japan, and 3 days later Germany and Italy, Japanese allies, declared war on the U.S.

    The battle happene six months after the attack and bombing of Pearl Harbor. The United States defeated Japan in one of the most naval battles during World War II. The victory allowed the United States and its allies to move into an offensive position.

    American, British, and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along a stretch of the heavily fortified coast of France's Normandy region. The invasion was one of the largest amphibious military assaults in history and required extensive planning. Also, the Alloes had made a plan to mislead the Germans about where they would invade.

  • Battle of the Bulge

    A major German offensive launched against the Allies in the Ardennes Mountains region on the Western Front. its objective was to split the Allied army by means of a surprise blitzkrieg thrust thought the Adrennes to Antwerp, something the Germans had done repeatedly. Despite the historical fondness, the Allies leadership miscalculated and left the Ardennes lightly defended. The battle went to january 25, 1945

    American soldiers make their first strike on the Japanese home islands at Iwo Jima. The invasion had the goal of capturing the whole island to provide a staging area for attacks on the Japanese mainlands. The battle went to March 26, 1945
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    The battle wa sought on the Ryukyu Islands of Okinawa and was the largest amphibious assault in the Pacific War of World War II. Four divisions of the United States Army and two Marine Divisions fought on the island. The capturing of Okinawa was part of a three point plan the Americans had for winning the war in the Far East. It lasted 82 days starting from early April to mid June 1945,

    (Victory in Europe Day) Marked formal conclusion of Hitler's war and defeat of the Nazi war machine. Celebrated by both Great Britain and the United States.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    An American B-29 dropped the worlds first deployed atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima, causing and explosion wiping out 90 percent of the city. A second B-29 bomb is dropped on Nagasaki three days later. This kills and estimated of 40,000 people. Japan's emperor, Hirohito, announces their unconditional surrender in the Second World War.

    (Victory over Japan Day) When Japan had surrendered unconditionally to the Allies, effectively ending Sorld War II.

    Women started working in the factories to produce goods to help in the war. There was a mass production jeeps, guns, etc. the women helping out in the factories was their way of helping out in the war because all the soldiers really needs the material.
