    Rape of Nanking
    Late 1937's Japanese army forces killed hundreds of thousands of people over the time spand of six weeks. The people killed were both civillians and soldiers. The Rape of Nanking or the Nanking Massacre had between 20,000 to 80,000 women that were sexually assaulted.   • Japanese invasion of China

    Japanese invasion of China
    The war began on July 937 when the Japanese thought that the Chinese fire on them at the Marco Polo bridge near Beijing. The Japanese troops used their conquered Manchuria to use as their base. From there the set out a full scale invasion of China. The uncontrolable war between Japan and China left china with 4 million casualties and left 60 million homeless.

    Germany's invasion of Poland
    About 1.5 million German troops invaded poland along side 1750 mile border of German controlled territory. While the troops were ready to attack German warships and U-boats attaked Polish naval forces and also bomed their air fields. The reason behind the attack was because Hitler thought it would bring "living space" for the German people. Polands army sent out about one million troops but had no impact on the Germans. The Polish army was defeated a few weeks into the invasion.

    Blitzkrieg was a military tactic that the germans used to word "lightning war". It was made to disorganized the enemy forces throught the use of mobile forces and locally concentrated firepower.     Operation Barbarossa
    Operation Barbarossa was based on the German Blitzkrieg. Operation Barbarossa was a name given to the Nazi on Germany's invasion of Russia. It was the biggest military attack of World War II. The attack was separated into three groups. Army Group North, Army Groups Centre, and Army Group South.     Pearl Harbor
    "The Rising Sun" or the Japanese has a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Pearl Harbor was attacked by planes that nobody saw coming and when they did it was way too late to do anything. Aircrafts, etc... were destroyed due to the surprise attack by the japanese. More than 2,000 American soldiers and sailors died along with another 1,000 wounded by the atack.     The Wannsee Conference was convened in Berlin that included the top 15 Nazi bureaucrats to coordinate the Final Solution.     Approximately 75,000 Filipino and American troops on Bataan were forced to make an arduous 65-mile march to prison camps after the surrender of the Bataan Peninsula of the Phil;ippine island of Luzon in WOrld War II to the Japanese.     The United States defeated Japan in a Naval battle in World War II. This which was six months after the attack on pearl harbor. With new technology that the U.S. had to offer they were able to counter attack Japans tactics.     Battle of Stalingrad
    The Battle of Stalingrad lasted from July 17, 1942 - February 2, 1943. The Battle of Stalingrad was the successful defense by the Soviets on the city of Stalingrad. For the Russians it was considered the greatest battle of their patriatic time. Onother impact was that it stopped the German's to move forward and attack another place that they had in mind. The Battle of Stalingrad had a toll of about 2 million casualties including civilians and military personel.

    Operation Gomorrah
    While the Americans were bombing Hamburg by day which they called "Blitz Week" British Bombers raid Hamburg by night which they called Operation Gomorrah. On July 24 the British had dropped 2.300 tons of bombs in Hamburg, Germany within just a few hours. With that 1,500 German civillians were killed on the first raid.     In World War II he battle of Normandy lasted from June to August of 1944. The battle was named D-Day when about 56,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches. The attacks was one of the biggest attacks in history of WWII.     HItler decided to split the allied forces of the northwest Europe by using Blitzkrieg to power through Ardennes to Antwerp.     On February 1945 three U.S. Marine divisions landed on Iwo Jima with the plan to attack. Iwo Jima was defended by about 23,00 Japanese army troops along with navy troops. It was hard for the U.S. because the jappanese had the tactics of using dugouts, caves, etc...
