  • Blitzkrieg- Invasion of Poland

    On September 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland. The Polish army was defeated within weeks of the invasion. From East Prussia and Germany in the north and Silesia and Slovakia in the south, German units, with more than 2,000 tanks and over 1,000 planes, broke through Polish defenses along the border and advanced on Warsaw in a massive encirclement attack.
  • Theater of War- African theater

    In warfare, a theater is an area or place in which important military events occur or are progressing. A theater can include the entirety of the air, space, land and sea area that is or that may potentially become involved in war operations. Places for future war related events.
  • Pearl Harbor

    On the morning of December 7, 1941, the Japanese launched a surprise air attack on the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. After just two hours of bombing, more than 2,400 Americans were dead, 21 ships* had either been sunk or damaged, and more than 188 U.S. aircraft destroyed. This attack severly crippled U.S Forces.
  • Internment- Japanese Americans

    Japanese American internment was the "War Relocation Camps" of over 110,000 people of Japanese heritage who lived on the Pacific coast of the United States. The U.S. government ordered the internment in 1942, shortly after Imperial Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor. This helped keep "traitors from relaying information back to Japan.
  • Operation Overlord- Battle of Normandy

    Operation Overlord[7] was the code name for the Battle of Normandy, the operation that launched the invasion of German-occupied western Europe during World War II by Allied forces. The operation commenced on 6 June 1944 with the Normandy landings (Operation Neptune, commonly known as D-Day). A 12,000-plane airborne assault preceded an amphibious assault involving almost 7,000 vessels. This Forced German forces to fight a two-front war.
  • Shoah

    Another Name for the Holocaust in Hebrew. This name suggests tragedy and catastrophy. The Jewish people felt this name fit the situation better than the name Holocaust, which means "whole" and "burnt", which implies 'sacrifice'.
  • Fat Man and Little Boy

    "Fat Man" was the codename for the type of atomic bomb that was detonated over Nagasaki, Japan, by the United States on 9 August 1945. Little Boy was the codename for the type of atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 by the Boeing B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay. This Crippled Japanese reinforcements

    International organization created in 1945 to settle problems between nations and form peace. Trying to limit war throught communication and compromise.
  • Nuremburg Trials

    The Nuremberg Trials were a series of military tribunals, held by the Allied forces after World War II, most notable for the prosecution of prominent members of the political, military, and economic leadership of Nazi Germany. The trials were held in the city of Nuremberg. This Brought the most prominent members of the Nazi party to justice.
  • Zionism

    Zionism is the national movement of Jews and Jewish culture that supports the creation of a Jewish homeland in the territory defined as the Land of Israel. After the Holocasut, many Jews had no home to return to and set off to create a new one. Ex. Israel
