Hitler
Germany was defeated in the First World War, was forced to get rid of their military and pay a lot of money. The German people were influenced by the National Socialist German Workers' Party or the Nazi Party. Hitler rose to power in 1933, and German Policy was eventually based entirely on his beliefs. The fact that this all started because of another war and showed history repeating signified that it could be the last war. -

Over a million people died in Auschwitz, the largest concentration camp established by the Germans. In mid January 1945 the German soldiers forced nearly everyone in Auschwitz to march to Wodzislaw, killing any who lagged behind. Days later the soviet army liberated the few who had remained and they realized just how bad the camps were. How bad the Germans had treated those people would make it far less likely that a corrupt person be put in power and lead to another war. -
Genocide convention
On December 12, 1948 the United Nations adopted the Genocide convention to prevent something like that from ever happening again. The assembly believed that throughout history genocide had time and time again taken so many innocent lives, and that it could be stopped with international cooperation. This was maybe the first time in human history that the nations of the world came together and decided that something should never happen again.
