The battle of Dunkirk was a battle between France and Germany. About 340,000 people were saved and trasnported to England. 1,000 ships were coming and moving through different channels. -

German pilots did attacks and bombing in Great Britain. -

Pearl Harbor
The Japanese attacked Pearl Habor. The Americans were not expecting it and only have a few planes to counter attack them. The Japanese was successful. -
Battle of the Coral Sea
There was a battle in the Coral Sea between Australia and New Guinea. The Allies won the war but lost more ships than Japan. -
Battle of midway
American found out the Japanese midways by figuring out the Japanese codes. -

Holocaust
Jews were taken away from their homes and captured. They were sent to concentraion camps where they were tortured and beat to death. Hitler was the main creater of hating jews. -
Elie's number "A-7713", was tattooed onto his left arm.

D-Day
D-Day was an invasion of France at Normandy by Allies. There was more than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft to help the invasion. There was more than 9,000 Allied Soldiers that were killed or wounded and more than 100,000 Soldiers began to go to Europe and attempt to defeat Hitler. -
The Battle for Iwo Jima
The United States marines landed on Iwo Jima to try and capture the airfields on the island that would allow them to attack Japan. The U.S marines were able to take over the Japanese positions.This was the final major battle of WW2. -
Germany Surrenders
Germany had to surrendar becaue Hitler made mistakes in the war and he lost to many soliders. -
Hitler's Death
Hitler and his wife married in a bunker. Later on she had poisoned herself and he shot himself. Their bodies were burnt to stop the Soviets from parading their dead bodies. -
V-E Day
Victory in Europe Day. The war that was in Europe was now over. -
Vladek in U.S. Refugee Camp
Vladek reaches America and is placed in a camp. -
Hiroshima and Nagasaki Atomic Bomb
The first bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945. The Japanese did not surrender until the second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki on August 9th. -
V-J Day
Victory in Japan. Japan surrender and the war in now over. -
Elie published his first book, La Nuit.

United States Holocaust Memorial
They spoke to create a memorial in which the victims of the Holocaust can be commerated and serve as a foundation to educate and prevent genocide and protect humanity. Elie Wiesel was given the prominent position to speak. -
Vladek Dies
Vladek dies of a heart attack at age 75. -
Weisel was awarded Nobel Peace Prize.

Wiesel reflected on the suffering and death of his father in the camp and they each spoke about Buchenwald in personal terms.
