Austria declared war on Serbia. When Austria sent Serbia some set of demands but they refused most of Austria's demands and that was enough for them to declare war on them. -
Pushing Back
British and French troops pushed back the German drive along the Marne River. This battle ended Germany's hope of early victory on the Western Front. -
Turks Join

First Germany and then the Allies began using poison gas which blinded or choked its victims or caused burns or blisters. -

United States Joins the Fight
The United States joined the Allies because Germany kept attacking cargo ships carrying goods to America and Woodrow Wilson was upset and went to Congress to declare war on Germany. It passed through Congress but not the house but they later declared war on Austria-Hungary in December of that year. -

The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, signed by Lenin, was between Germany and Russia ending Russian participation in World War 1 because of a Russian Civil War. -
The End of the Great War
As Central Powers were collapsing and others were seeking peace, Germany sought armistice, an agreement to end fighting with the Allies. -

The Treaty was signed between Germany and the Allied Powers. The treaty claimed that Germany must take the blame for starting the war. It also damaged German economy even more. It also looked to weaken Germany.
