As a part of the American's island hoping campaign, the small island of Iwo Jima is invaded. The battle is won by the U.S. but with heavy casualties. -
Hitler Kills Himself
To avoid capture Hitler kills himself in the Fuehrerbunker in Berlin. Him and his wife, Eva Braun, are burned so thier fate wouldn't be the same as Mussolini. -
VE Day
Berlin has fallen to the allies ending the european campaign. Europe can now begin to rebuild. -
Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima
An American plane drops atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. 70,000 Japanese citizens die from the blast but countless others die from radiation poisoning and other side effects. -
Atomic Bomb on Nagasaki
An America plane drops a second bomb on Japan this time in the city of Nagasaki. 40,000 people die in the blast but like Hiroshima many die from other side effects. -
VJ Day
3 weeks after the second atomic bomb was dropped, Japan officially surrenders to the Americans. A peace treaty was signed abord the USS MIssouri.
