  • Annexation of Sudetenland

    Annexation of Sudetenland
    This was when Germany invaded part of Czechoslovakia and annexed a big portion of it. Hitler wanted to annex Czechoslovakia because there were Germans there and he wanted them in Germany. He only wanted the Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia so he promised to not annex the rest of Czechoslovakia. This event ended on October 10, 1938.
  • Island Hopping

    Island Hopping
    Island Hopping was a military strategy used during World War 2. It was a way for the militaries to take over island's or gain back control of an island. It increased chances of victory. The United States used this strategy to gain back control of islands that Japan had took. They also took islands close to Japan. (1941 - 1944)
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    At 7:55, Japan attacked the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. More than 2,300 Americans were killed.
  • The Philippines

    Hours after the Pearl Harbor, Japan surprise attacked the Philippines. Most of the prisoners captured by Japan were forced to go to a prison camp. They called this Death March.
  • Japanese Internment Camps

    These were internment camps in the United States that held over 120,000 Japanese Americans. It was overcrowded and had poor living conditions. The reason so many Japanese Americans were kept in these camps was because this was a response to Pearl Harbor. This ended on March 20, 1946.

    The Naval battle in Midway Atoll that resulted in America's victory. It is known as the turning point in the Pacific war. It ended on June 7, 1942.

    Germany and the Soviet Union fought because Germany was trying to gain control of Stalingrad in southern Russia. This was World War 2's longest confrontation that ended on February 2, 1943.

    Guadalcanal campaign or Battle of Guadalcanal was a campaign fought on the island of Guadalcanal. It was the first major victory for the allies in the Pacific theater hence why it is significant to World War 2. It ended on February 9, 1943

    D-Day refers to the first day that America and Britain invaded France during World War 2. It was also the beginning of the victory of the Allies in Europe.
  • Meeting at Yalta

    The Yalta Conference was held by the Soviet Union in Livadia Venue in Yalta where the United Kingdom, United States, and the Soviet Union discussed the reorganization of Germany and Europe after World War 2. It ended on February 11, 1945.
  • Fall of Berlin

    This event is also known as the Battle of Berlin. Fall of Berlin refers to the downfall of Germany and Hitler. The Soviet Union had won against Germany. This event ended on May 2, 1945
  • Death of Hitler

    Hitler committed suicide in his bunker by taking a cyanide capsule and shooting himself in the head. It was a good news for Americans and opposing forces. His wife also committed suicide alongside with him.
  • Los Alamos

    Truman send the world's first atomic bomb 200 miles of Alamos. He said the decision to send the bomb was pure military. He also believed it saved Japanese lives.
  • Meeting at Potsdam

    This was the last World War 2 meeting and it was held by the "big three" (Great Britain, United States, and Soviet Union) near Berlin. They discussed the Germany economy, punishment, and lands. It ended on August 2, 1945.

    Hiroshima is an important city to remember as part of World War 2 because it was where the world's first atomic bomb donated by the United States to Mexico was launched. It forced Japan to surrender therefore, ended World War 2. The event ended on August 9, 1945.
