It was first tested out on Poland. Blitzkrieg in english means lighting war. The tactic when used succesfully created disorganization among enemy troops ans it preserved human lives. -
Fall of Paris
German forces occupied Paris. This caused Franklin Roosevelt to freeze the American assets of Germany and Italy. -
Pearl harbor
It was an attack by Japan on a American naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii. The reason behind the attack was to stop America from stopping Japan from expanding across the south pacific. This attack got America to finally join the war. -
Battle of MIdway
The U.S. was able to preempt and counter Japan's planed ambush of aircraft carriers. This was an important turring point in the pacific campaign. -
D-Day (Normandy invasion)
American, British, and Canadian troops landed on five beaches on the fortified coast of France's Normandy region. It freed France from Germany's control. It was called the beginning of the end of the war in europe. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
It was an amphibious invasion by the United Sates stemmed from the need for a base near the Japanese coast. The U.S. won the battle and the battle won a place in American lore with the publication of a photograph showing the U.S. flag being raised in victory. -

This day was the day German troops laid down their arms in Europe. This marked the end of the war in Europe -
Battle of Okinawa
This wa the last and biggest of the Pacific island battles of WW2. It involved 287,000 U.S. troops against 130,000 Japanese troops. -
Dropping of the Atomic Bombs
The United States dropped two atomic bombs on the japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki killing over 120,000 people. The bombings were used to put an end to the war in the pacific islands. The showing of the atomic bombs most likely started the cold war. -
VJ Day
On this day Japan surrendered to the allies. The reason behind them surrendering was the threat of the atomic bombs. This officialy ended WW2 with the surrender of Japan. -
Battle of the bulge
Hitler tried to split the Allied army. It was the most costliest battle fought by the U.S. Army. There were over 100,000 casualties.
