  • WW1 Recruitment Posters (+2)

    These posters were put up across the country. They were targeted at young men persuade them into joining the war. It was important that Canada had many soldiers or the war would no have been one.
  • Canadian War Enlistment (+2)

    Canada grew their military by enlisting men as soldiers in the war. This was very important because Canada would have stood no chance in the war.
  • Borden's Letter (+1)

    His letter persuaded men to go off to war. It was vital that Canada recruited a lot of soldiers before going to war.
  • The Economy and the Home Front (-1)

    Citizens all across Canada were faced with expensive taxes. This weakened the economy and it was not a sign of progress for Canada.
  • Enemy Aliens and the Home Front (-2)

    People who were born in enemy countries were severely underpaid and they were discriminated against because of where they were born. This was the opposite of progress for Canada
  • Women and the Home Front (-1)

    Women had to take on the responsibilities of men as well as there own. On top of that, they had to take care their children. This was not a time of progress for Canada because of the shortage of working men.
  • Conscription and the Home Front (0)

    French Canadians were forced off to war. The French Canadians showed no loyalty to the British Empire and they felt that it was not their war to fight.

    There were very few black Canadian soldiers at the time but he rescued his unit from an attack and proved his worth in a white man’s army.
  • The War in the Air (1918)

    At the end of the war, Canada gained for air support. This gave them a terrific advantage that helped them to win in the end.
  • The End of the War (+2)

    Canada was victorious. All soldiers who survived could return home to their jobs and families. It was much easier for women at this time because they could return to their normal lives. A definite time of progress for Canada.
