    This occurs when troops stand inside trenches and fire at eachother. The land between the trenches is no man's land meaning, no countries shall enter it during the battle. This was used in the Western front during the war.
  • Sinking of Lusitania

    Sinking of Lusitania
    A German U-boat, carrying over 1,900 passengers and crew members, sank the RMS Lusitania by torpedo. This created tension among the public and turned many countries against Germany. The United States joined the war two years later, with this being a main motive.
  • Zimmermann Note

    Zimmermann Note
    This was a telegram, sent by Zimmermann to propose a new alliance between Mexico and Germany in preparation for war against the United States. This message is published on every news paper throughout the United States. As an incentive, Germany offered to financially support Mexico in the event of a war, as well as get their land back from the United States.This led to the president arming our ships and preparing for German attack. America's public opinion led to joining the war.

    Spanish Flu
    This pandemic was thought to be the deadliest in history. A majority of the people who it effected was young adults that were reasonably healthy. The victims suffered fatigue, fever, headache and etc. By the end of the plague, it had resulted in about 50,000,000 deaths.

    This was President Wilson's plan to create peace and prevent further damage in wars. The League of Nations was an organization created to solve disputes between countries, that would likely send them to war.
  • Espionage and Sedation Act

    Espionage and Sedation Act
    This act made it illegal to speak out against anything relating to the war and was targeting the enemies. This act went against the 1st amendment and resulted. In the Schenck vs Us court case, Schenck was fighting for his belief that the Constitution should not be violated.
  • Treaty of Varsailles

    Treaty of Varsailles
    This was created to establish peace between Germany and the allied powers. As a result, Germany was required to pay for the damage that was caused by the war.
  • Women During the War

    Women During the War
    The 19th amendment was added to the Constitution, benefiting the women. This amendment granted women the right to vote. During the war, many of these women worked in factories, built ships, and mined coal.
