The Christmas Truce consisted of multiple seperate truces between the various parties. These were called for Christmas, and people from both sides ventured into "No Man's Land" (A place between the enemies trenches), where they talked and exchanged goods. Some cease-fires became so friendly that games were played between both sides, and it was common that both sides would sing carols together. However, these ended at the end of Christmas, and both sides resorted to killing each other. -

What ended up becoming the Battle of Gallipoli. Because Britain and French wanted an easy way to transport goods to Russia, they tried to force a way through the Dardanelles. The date of the first landing in enemy territory is now celebrated as Anzac Day, due to Australia's and New Zealand's involvement. -
