Discovery of bacteria
Antony Leeuwenhoek was the first person to see bacteria in 1660. This discovery helped the world because many people already died with a bacterial infection at the time and they didn't knew why. The first successful vaccine was a Smallpox vaccine to be developed was a Smallpox vaccine and it was introduced by Edward Jenner in 1798. He followed up his observation that milkmaids who had previously caught cowpox did not later catch smallpox by showing that inoculated cowpox protected against inoculated smallpox. -

Penicillin discovered
Penicillin was discovered by Scottish scientist Alexander Fleming. People began using it to treat infections in 1942.
Penicillin antibiotics were among the first medications to be effective against many bacterial infections caused by staphylococci and streptococci. Penicillins are still widely used today, though many types of bacteria have developed resistance following extensive use. -
Cure for Malaria
In the 60's, a 84 years old Chinese woman without diploma discovered the cure for malaria. She studied ancient texts and found that in 400 A.D. people used to use sweet wormwood to treat the disease. The treatment is now used worldwide and have already saved millions of lives. -

At this year we reached the mark of 5 billion people. We can see that as time passes, we are reaching billions much faster than before. -

In 2011 we got to the mark of 7 billion people. We can observe that we took only 12 years to grow more 1 billion people, that's actually much faster than the last time. At this year an underwater earthquake with a magnitude of 9.0 hits off the coast of Japan, in US A tornado cuts a six mile path and damages about two-thousand buildings and Russia officially became a part of the World Trade Organization.
