South Americas Independence
South America gained their independence through wars and revolutions. South America had wanted freedom from their rulers for a long time. The fight for independence lasted for around 20 years. They were freed from their spanish rulers on July 5th, 1811. They REALLY got freed a decade later when Simon Bolivar fought for them. -

The massacre of the mamelukes was when Muhammed Ali killed all the last Mamelukes in one swift move. Muhammed Ali was the commander of the Ottoman Army. -

Mount Tambora erupted sending so much dust up in the air that it caused 10 inches of snow to fall in June. This happened in New England. A famine fell over killing crops. -
Missouri Compromise
The Missouri Compromise was when Missouri wanted to be a slavery state and Maine wanted to be a free state so they made a two in one compromise. The compromise let Missouri become a slave state while Maine became a free state. -
Greek War Of Independence
Greece won their independence by fighting Egypt. 25,000 Greek soldiers died and 20,000 Egyptians died. The Greeks were outnumbered and the Egyptians still lost. The war was between 1821-1832. Russia, the U.K., France were assisting their ships. -
Mexico Gains Independence
The Treaty of Cordoba freed Mexico. This treaty brought an end to the Mexican War. Juan O'donoju (a representative of the Spanish) signed the treaty. -

In 1822 brazil had many political isusses with Portugal which ended up with many skirmishes which ended up with Brazil aining their independence. -

Mexico becomes a republic 3 years after they gain independence from Spain. -
Baltimore And Ohio Railroad Opens
Becomes first major railroad in US. The railroad created jobs for immagrants, and makes it easier to move from place to place so more people can spread out to live. -
The Indian Removal Bill
This bill forced Indians to resettle to the territory west of the Mississippi river. This bill made it so that there is more room for more immagrants. -
The 5th Census
The 5th Census was a way that the government found out the population of the USA. The government sent out a slip of paper that the residents of the building would fill out to say how many people were living in each building. -
Belguim Declares Independence
In 1830 King William of Belgium which was a prodastint ruler. Belgium was mostly Catholics at the time so they rebeled to get King Henry out of power. In 1831 they succeeded and a Catholic ruler came into power. This was how Belgium gained independence from Britain. -
Nat Turner's Rebellion
Nat Turner lead a rebelion of 16 slaves and killed some 61 white people and got captured and exicuted.This rebelion made slave ownners strickter and tougher. -
Texas Revolution
The Texas Revolution was when Texas gained idependence from Mexico. This revolution was against the Texas colonists and the country of Mexico. -
Texan War Of Independence
The Texas War of Independence was fought between Texas Rebels and the Mexican Government. The USA was kind of so-so about the war, but many American volunteers came to fight. Texas ended up winning the war. This seperated them from Mexico. Later on they became part of the United States. Texas joining the USA resulted in a war between Mexico and the USA.
Fun Fact: The USA had around 850 casualties, while Mexico had around 2,500 casualties. -
Trail Of Tears
In 1838 125,000 Native American's mostly Cherokee were forced to walk thousands of miles by the the US Government. 2,000-6,000 Native Amerian's die. The name of this was later known as Trail of Tears. -
The Potato Famine
During the summer a famine fell over ireland killing all of its potato crop. Potatoes were Ireland's main source of crops. When the potatoes were dug out of the ground they were slimy, black, and decaying. The famine was caused by a fungus that traveled from Mexico to Ireland. Thousands died and many left. -
The Mexican War
In 1846 The Mexican War began. The congress declared war on Mexico because Mexican soldiers attacked American soldiers. The war ended with a treaty in 1848. -
The California Goldrush
A construction boss named James Marshall was making sure that water was flowing well at a mill. He noticed that there was some gold in the water. The gold was discovered near Sacremento California. California soon became a hot spot for miners and people looking for wealth. This brought a lot of people to the USA. -
Compromise of 1850
this compromise made it so that the slave staes and free states.it avioded civil war for 4 years. the compromiise made a little relief for slavery. -
Gold Strikes In Australia
There was 4,200,000 ounces of gold that was found in Alaska. And it employed around 14,000 people. Everything that was found was worth 4.4 billion dollars. 89% of the earth metals went up in price. -
Kansas Nebraska Act
This act was to allow Kansas and Nebraska settlers to decide where slavery was allowed. Senator Douglas wanted Nebraska to be a territory and have the south support them, so he proposed that they support slavery. This act let Nebraska and Kansas allow slavery, which the Missouri Compromise had been preventing. -
Bleeding Kansas
This was an anti-slavery act and pro-slavery. It took place in the Kansas territory. The neighboring towns in Missouri between 1854-1861. Kansas had a decision to make between slavery in their state or not. In this war there were the North and South. This war was a proxy war. -
The Dred Scott Desicion
This is whether the African Americans were slaves or not. The court denied the request when Scott wanted to let the African Americans be free. In 1820 the Missouri Compromise made slavery free in the North. -
Presidential Election
the presidential election of Abraham Llncoln was a big part of America's history. He ended the civil war, and was assassinated.
