    The women in the first nations were very important to their society, and culture. They took care of the children, and took care of where they lived (the lodge). They were also hunters. They didnt hunt the bigger animals, they left that for the men. The women just unted smalled animals such as rabbits, birds, etc. The women were also harvesters. They harvestes roots, fruit, nuts, rice, etc.

    The women had the poltical power to elect village and tribal leaders in New France. Most women did not read or write, wich made it difficult to record what their life was like back then. We know that the women had specific jobs, such as weaving, clothes production and repair, and sewing.

The women knew more than one languages to make them better interpreters for when they meet with peoplethat dont speak their language while trading.

    In the 1850's roles were usually organized by gender. Women were responsible for most of the chores, while men were respolsible for the outside chores. By the age of 14, the young women were required to work any chores that had to be done around the house.
