    Susan B. Anthony, a campaigner for women's suffrage tested the law by registering to vote alongside 3 of her sisters. They were eventually arrested for "knowingly, wrongfully and unlawfully" voting for a Congress representitive.

The Woman's Christian Temperance Union and the Anti-Saloon League led an organized crusade against alcohol. In Kansas, Carry Nation took a hatchet and a bible and smashed up saloons, urging other women to do the same.

    The National Woman Suffrage Association and American Woman Suffrage Association merged to form the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA). The leaders of the organization were Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony.

    The NACW was founded in 1896. It had a handful of the most prominent women in the African American community. Their purpose was to campaign against poverty, segregation, and lynchings. Eventually, they expanded their campaigns to include temperance and women's suffrage. The organizations formed settlement houses, hospitals and schools.
