Queen Victoria proved that a woman can do anything. She governed the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland on her own during 64 years, from 1837 to 1901, the time she died. Her reign was a period of significant social, economic and technological change, which saw the expansion of Britain's industrial power and of the British empire. -
The Fights for Universal Suffrage
In politic aspects, women had the same rights as a child, which meant, in other words, to be politicly unable. It was therefore the main objetive feminist movements were fighting for. -
Equality in France
The revolutions of 1848 created unprecedented opportunities for the expression of feminist ideas in France and Germany. These revolutions sought to expand political rights to middle-class and working-class citizens. In France the Revolution of 1848 and the Second Republic established universal male suffrage, creating a strong opening for feminists to call for women’s suffrage rights. -
